Cataract
Any opacity of the crystalline lens which causes visual impairment is known as a cataract.
Cataract leads to blurring of vision because of which there might be some difficulty in performing daily activities. The crystalline lens is an essential element of the human eye that works crucially to focus the light rays sharply on the retina. There is no medical treatment for it. Cataract surgery is the procedure performed to treat this.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is caused by a group of ocular conditions which lead to a damage of the optic nerve with loss of visual function.
The most common risk factor known is a raised intraocular pressure. The normal value of the intraocular pressure is 11 to 21 mm of Hg. Most glaucomas are asymptomatic until the late stages of the disease, and therefore a careful, comprehensive eye examination, including history, is essential for the early diagnosis.
Retina
